A tractor mounted gully bowser was donated to the Galle Municipal Council by the UN-HABITAT recently. His Worship Kelum Seneviratna taking over the equipment stated that this will be very useful in the settlements where the roads are narrow. He thanked the UN-Habitat for the extensive assistance extended to Galle Muninicipality in the rehabilitation of tsunami affected settlements.

UN-Habitat has been working in Galle from soon after the Tsunami disaster and helped over 1000 families to rehabilitate and reconstruct their homes. Large number of community infrastructure facilities were also constructed under the tsunami reconstruction programme implemented by the UN-Habitat through community participation.
